Arnaud et Marc ont quitté La Rochelle ce soir, direction La Corogne.

Le premier point a été tracé sur la carte à 18h40.

Arnaud and Marc left La Rochelle tonight, heading to La Corogne in Spain.

The first point was drawn on the map at 18h40.

Jeudi 23 Octobre fut en quelque sorte la répétition générale.

Après quelques travaux en haut du mat, nous hissions fièrement les couleurs du Rock Racer !

Les parents Vaucoret au rendez-vous, nous tirions quelques bords dans peu de vent avant de rentrer tranquillement au port.

Prêt pour le grand départ !

Thursday, the 23rd of October, was our final preparation day before leaving for good.

After fixing few things on top of the mast, we raised up proudly our colours on the Rock Racer !

Vaucoret’s parents on board, we cruised for a while in front of « La Rochelle » with sun and little wind before heading back to the port.

Ready for the D day !

Le bateau tout juste remis à l’eau la veille, le 11/12 Octobre, au tour de la famille Vaucoret de venir à bord pour un weekend au large de La Rochelle.

Au total, nous étions 8 sur le Rock Racer, entre les sœurs, le cousin et Clément dit « le Pek’s » qui découvraient le bateau.

Après une soirée d’accueil le vendredi soir dans une atmosphère festive, nous partîmes samedi matin pour l’ile de Ré.

Journée paisible, à la voile, au moteur … jusqu’au port de Saint-Martin de Ré pour passer la nuit.

Le vent se leva rapidement à la tombée de la nuit mais la soirée fût sympathique à bord avec un bon repas.

Debout de bonne heure le dimanche matin, le temps ayant changé, nous repartions vers La Rochelle dans 20 nœuds de vent.

Après s’être mis à l’ancre pour attendre la marée, le temps changea rapidement et le vent monta subitement jusqu’à 45 nœuds en rafales, nous décidions de tirer des bords devant La Rochelle, jusqu’à ce que la marée nous permis de rentrer nous mettre à l’abri au port.

Bonne expérience pour le bateau et l’équipage, qui encaissa plutôt bien cette petite tempête, malgré le mal de mer frémissant pour certains!

The boat was on the deck for technical issues and returned to the sea the day before the weekend. On 11th and 12th of October, it was time to welcome Vaucoret’s family on board for the weekend.

In total, we were 8 people on the Rock Racer, between sisters, cousin and Clément known as « le Pek’s » who discovered the boat.

After a welcome party on Friday evening, we left the port on Saturday morning heading to l’ile de Ré.

Calm day, sailing and cruising … till we reached Saint-Martin de Ré where we spent the night.

The wind increased quickly after the sunset but the evening was great on board with a nice dinner.

Early on Sunday morning, the weather changing, we left the port heading back to La Rochelle in 20 knots of wind.

After droping the anchor for a while waiting for the tide to allow us to enter the port, the wind increased suddenly to 45 knots, we decided to cruise safely in front of La Rochelle, till we could get in the port thanks to the tide.

Good experience for the crew and the boat, who did well despite the sea sick coming for some of us !

Le 3 et 4 octobre 2014, nous avons eu le plaisir d’accueillir à bord la famille Laborde au complet.

Le soleil était au rendez-vous et la petite brise du samedi nous a rapidement mené à Saint-Martin de Ré.

Après un bon resto le samedi soir, un coup de vent pendant la nuit et quelques huitres le dimanche midi, nous sommes tranquillement rentrés au port des minimes à La Rochelle.

Fin d’un très bon weekend ensoleillé !

On 3rd and 4th of October 2014, we had the pleasure to welcome on board Laborde’s family.

The sun was shining and the small breeze helped us to reach quickly Saint-Martin de Ré.

After a nice restaurant on Saturday evening, heavy wind during the night and few oysters on Sunday for lunch, we returned to La Rochelle in the afternoon.

End of a happy weekend on  board !
