A suivre …
We left La Rochelle (France) on Saturday the 25th of October heading to Corruna in Spain, a first trip of about 350 miles.
We left the port escorted by many boats that were celebrating the opening of the new expansion of the « Port des Minimes ».
Later, we had great pleasure to meet some Gadz’Arts (school mates) who came from everywhere in France for the traditional sailing weekend in La Rochelle organized every year at this time. We met the day before and in the morning, it was a strong symbol for our D-day.
After that, we baptized officially the Rock Racer with Champagne and did the famous 3 turns around to celebrate the new name of the boat that we sticked the same day in the morning.
At this time, we were gone !
We alternated sailing and engine during the first night that went quickly. The sun with us the next morning, we carried on our way till the sunset.
Awake early in the morning after the second night on board, dolphins came to play with us. The water was so clear, we had an awesome time looking at them.
Dolphins mean fishes !
We decided to start fishing and after few minutes (hours), a small red tuna bit and we managed to take it on board.
We had not eaten since La Rochelle, so it became quickly sashimis. Fishing time on board was launched !
Hundred kilometers away from the coast, in the middle of « Golfe de Gascogne », a small bird came to have a break on board and enjoy our compagny too.
Tired after our day, we slept few hours till the morning, and after the sunrise, we could see the spanish coast for the first time.
No wind, we cruised with our engine, time to fish again. And our lunch came quickly with a small white tuna on board.
It turned into tuna filets in the oven and a very nice lunch (see the picture) !
Later in the day, a small leak in the engine forced us to reduce our speed to 2,05 knots and continue slowly till Corunna …
We reached at 2am, a bit tired. We went to sleep after we tied the boat to the deck at the Marina.
To be continued …
